Tailored Infill

Our thesis proposal is an urban infill strategy that attempts to densify existing cities in order to address urban population growth. This strategy maximises public space both in quality, quantity and accessibility generating a new network of pedestrian streets and public spaces while increasing population density. Research on the issue of rapid urban growth develops into a material system of tailored flat sheets with cut patterns that can be quickly deployed on site into an inflatable structure. The design of the pattern is informed by studies of circulation and structural analysis in order to produce dwelling and public spaces within the building.
