The studio explores robotic fabrication while enabling mass-customisation strategies that can compete with contemporary co-living models in highly productive cities. The promise of mass-customisation integrated with new models of housing now allows for the generation of a vibrant community fabric.

Schumacher STUDIO

PARAMETRIC SEMIOLOGY / PARAMETRIC DESIGN / CO-AUTHORED URBANISM

The studio contributes to the ‘semiological project’ which attempts to upgrade architecture’s communicative capacity. Concentrating on work environments, this project aims to enhance the social functionality of the designed/built environment through designed architectural code that manifests itself via crowd-modelling of the agent’s rules.

Spyropoulos Studio

BEHAVIOUR BASED DESIGN / ADAPTIVE URBANISM / AUGMENTED ENVIRONMENTS

The studio challenges the fixed and finite orthodoxies of building design for a latent and unknown world. Within the contemporary condition new conceptual terrains emerge that raise questions of agency and intelligence within a deep ecology of our environment. The studio examines scenario-based design through autonomous, self-structuring constructs. We propose high populations based systems currently are examining post disaster complexity. Issues of mass migration, post-earthquake deployable housing and hospitals on demand are some of the challenges undertaken towards the development of an instantaneous response infrastructure.
